I bought the Charge 3 and I hate taking it off. My resting heart rate on an ECG machine compared to my Fitbit has a difference of 10 beats per minute In addition the calorie counter has very limited good options and scanning them and sending them off is too time consuming. All in all I am so chuffed that I have a Fitbit as its now become a way of life for me! Hi Jane, We’re delighted to hear that you enjoy using your Fitbit Charge 3 and love its features such as reminders to move and challenges!

As for your concern with heart rate tracking, please note that our Fitbit devices calculate steps differently from other machines. PurePulse LEDs light-emitting diodes on your Fitbit device reflect onto the skin to detect blood volume changes, and finely-tuned algorithms are applied to measure heart rate automatically and continuously.

The heart-rate icon you see on the display tells you if you’re in 1 of 3 heart-rate zones. It’s also worth noting that if you’re doing an activity where your wrist is moving vigorously and non-rhythmically, the movement may prevent the sensor from finding your heart rate. If this happens, try relaxing your wrist and staying still briefly about 10 seconds , after which you should see an accurate heart rate reading.

You say “Make sure the fitbit app is installedon your computer” That’s what I’m trying to do. It tells me I own it but as I’ve recently updated my computer The app has disappeared and is no longer installed. The app starts to down load up to kb then says completed. What the heck is going wrong, I’m getting frustrated and annoyed and am thinking to dump my fitbit charge,.

Hi francis48! Welcome to the Forums! Nice help wynd Thanks for all the steps you’ve tried. Please check that your computer is running the latest update, turn off your computer’s firewall as sometimes it doesn’t allow the Fitbit App to run. Then try to download it again. What type of computer are you using? I now have a Samsung Gear Fit 2, which was so simple to set up and works fantastic.

Hi skyleapa and francis48 thanks for getting back. Some computers are showing errors while downloading the Fitbit App but sometimes after turning the firewall off it is able to be installed. In your case if you already tried that I’d suggest using the Fitbit Connect program to sync your data. We might have to wait for the next update or until we receive more information regarding this issue.

To be honest, after spending what I have on Fitbit Surge, Ionic, Flex 2 and having such a horrible time attempting to connect to either Windows 10 or Android. At least I got my money back on the Ionic. The part that really annoys me is that my wife had the same problems with the Charge 2 and was given a direct link to the Fitbit App so she could download it.

I wanted to use Fitbit even after the problems she had so that I could be “compatible” with her. When I had the same problems, I tried to get the link from Fitbit support, because I had lost it, not realising that I would need it again, no one at Fitbit knew anything about a direct link.

After trying the Surge and Ionic with no success, I went out and purchased a Samsung Gear Fit 2 and it worked immediately with no problems, and It even allows access to all reports directly on the watch and has superior messaging and SOS abilities far above any Fitbit. The thought then occurred to me that maybe because the Surge and Ionic were later models than the Charge 2 that there was some “upgrade” that was causing problems, because the Charge 2 did connect but we had problems downloading the App.

On the basis of this I purchased a Flex 2 so I would have some compatibility with my wife’s charge 2. It still did not connect, apparently needing a dongle For what reason, only God knows. Voila, it connected with the dongle, but I could still not get. I finally gave up in disgust, vowing to never again buy any Fitbit product.

When my wife’s Charge 2 bites the dust, she will not buy another Fitbit either. I am a software engineer, so I can see just how poorly run your software department is. Any search will show that I am not alone with these issues concerning Fitbit, and you have done nothing to address it. Hi skyleapa , thanks for sharing your feedback, your comments are really important for us. Please know that we don’t want to create frustration in our customers. Pair the fitbit device mine is Ionic first with the computer. To do this, you can connect your Fitbit to your computer using the USB dongle or cradle.
